Avoid These Mistakes Of Traditional Advertising
|
One common marketing method is through traditional advertising. Options include advertising on the radio, TV, newspaper, direct mail, etc. Traditional advertising can be effective if you avoid the following mistakes.
Paid Advertising Mistake #1: Just because you have an advertisement doesn’t mean the advertisement is good. If the advertisement is written and/or created incorrectly, it could be completely worthless.
Check out the following book for help: “Magic Words that Make you Rich” by Ted Nicholas at http://www.magicwordsthatmakeyourich.com.
He provides exceptional copy writing tips. For example, did you know that the word “Discover” receives three times as many responses as the word “Learn”? Buy this book even if you hire the services of a copy writer.
Tip: You need to be an informed consumer. It will help you to determine the worth of a copy writer as well as create effective advertising copy.
Paid Advertising Mistake #2: You put the advertisement in the wrong place. For example, you may find a magazine that offers cheap rates to advertise, but the magazine is not in your demographic. Therefore, don’t always go for the cheap rates. Think about which magazines, etc. cover your demographic.
Paid Advertising Mistake #3: Radio advertising is not as effective as you think if you don’t have a large marketing budget. A radio advertisement needs to be heard a minimum 6-7 times to be effective. You would need to advertise the same time of day in front of the same people for 3 weeks to be effective.
Paid Advertising Mistake #4: TV and cable advertising is not as effective as you think if you don’t have a large marketing budget. Watch out for the cheap rates on less watched channels. You may want to spend more time on a less flashy advertisement that is on a better, more watched channel.
Tip: Print advertising is the most effective. Many times you can find people that will trade with you. For example, you can offer 10 tickets to a seminar in exchange for an equal worth of advertising.
