The Amazing FIRAT Method -
Identify The Wounds
Do you know
the FIRAT method? If not then
read on because it is a powerful
method that can give our
presentation the strength it
needs. A stronger presentation
means more money in your pocket,
plain and simple.
What is the
FIRAT method?
FIRAT
stands for:
F =
Find a wound.
I =
Induce the pain.
R =
Release the pain.
AT = Attach
the solution to you and your
product. Get a commitment.
This model
is so useful because it deals
with pain people are already
having.
Finding
wounds does not meet that you
are hurting people. Instead you
are exposing a wound that they
are already experiencing. Your
intention is to provide a
solution for the wound so that
they are no longer in pain. You
actually build rapport with your
audience when you expose
wounds. You are helping them to
put the wound out in public so
they can acknowledge it and
solve it. Most of the time
people just rationalize their
wounds away and never figure out
how to solve them.
For
example, a typical wound is
“Everyone is a little insecure,
aren’t they?” This is a classic
rationalization. Rationalizing
and denial keeps us from solving
our problems. This can make you
live with the problem your whole
life and never fix it.
How do you
find the wounds? Put yourself
in the audiences’ shoes…
1) Who am
I speaking to?
2) What am
I speaking to them about?
3) In what
way is there lack of knowledge
or activity in this area causing
them pain? How is it hurting
them in a way that they know?
For example, they don’t have a
good business plan which
prevents them from obtaining
financing.
Spend time
brainstorming the possible
wounds people experience. Make
a list of these wounds and their
consequences. This is the first
major step in the FIRAT
process. You can go onto the
next step in the FIRAT method
ONLY after you have thoroughly
identified and investigated the
possible wounds.
